A thank you to all my clients, past and future, young and old

With over 600 ceremonies created and carried out by me, it seems a good moment to say thank-you. What a journey this has been both professionally and personally.

When I made the decision to become a Humanist celebrant the decision was based partly on a wish to continue to engage with people, young and old, in a direct and meaningful way. In my career in drama and theatre I had the privilege of working with young people in a creative and collaborative way. I wanted to harness my skills as a writer, performer and actor in an even more direct and meaningful way and what a marvelous journey that has been. The weddings, the Vow Renewals and the Exchanges of Vows - so much joy and happiness, roars of laughter and most of all love in all its manifestations.

The joy of being the person who is part of a Naming – a welcoming of a new life into a family, the celebration and the happiness.

The funerals, the honour of assisting families at their most vulnerable time, to give support and to work with them to celebrate a loved one’s life. The opportunity to help them find the words to pay homage to them on their final journey.

So this is a thank you to all my clients, past and future, young and old – you have given me far more than you will ever know. A million thanks - Geraldine
